1:05
Are you ready to get started with
AI powered plugins and Figma?
1:07
Then let's jump right in.
1:10
Before diving into the capabilities
of these dynamic plugins,
1:11
let's first explore the steps for
installing a plugin in Figma.
1:14
We have several options available, but
1:17
I will guide you through two
specific methods in this tutorial.
1:19
One through the Figma menu and the other
by utilizing the Figma community tab.
1:22
We'll actually start with the latter,
1:27
installing a plugin from
the community link.
1:28
If we head down to
the lower left hand corner,
1:30
we should see the explore community link.
1:32
Click on this link to head
to the community page.
1:34
Once on the community page,
we have a few options for searching and
1:37
filtering through resources such as these
main tabs for several options such as
1:40
templates for inspiration,
Team sinks, design systems, and more.
1:44
You can also head down to this filter
menu and click on All Resources to access
1:48
a drop down that will allow
you to select plugins.
1:52
To see a list of trending popular or
most recent plugins.
1:55
But if you know which plugin
you're looking for, you can
2:02
save some time by searching for it by name
in the search bar at the top of the page.
2:05
I'll search for the first plugin,
I'll go over today, WireGen, and there,
2:10
you see WireGen in the list of results.
2:14
I can click the button labeled Open In
to select which Figma project to open
2:16
the plugin in.
2:20
Or I can click on the name and description
of the plugin to view the details page for
2:22
the plugin.
2:25
On the details page, we can get the about
details and comments for the plugin.
2:26
We can see how many people have hearted or
liked the plugin,
2:30
as well as how many users the plugin has.
2:33
And of course, we have the option
to open it in our project.
2:35
An alternative method to clicking
the Explore community link on your home
2:38
dashboard would be to simply go to
the address figma.com/community.
2:43
All right, next I'll go over how to
open a plug in from the main menu.
2:48
So let me start a new design file.
2:51
Before I begin, I'll create
a quick frame to work in later.
2:55
I'll select the MacBook Pro 14-inch
frame template for this project.
3:01
Let's zoom out a bit.
3:08
Next I will go up here to the main
menu and select the Resources icon.
3:09
It's the icon with various shapes
between the T and hand icon.
3:14
Once selected,
you will start off in the components tab.
3:17
But if you look at the top of the tab,
you have three options, components,
3:20
plugins, and widgets.
3:24
Simply click on Plugins and
now you can search for your plugin.
3:26
Again for our example,
I'll search for WireGen.
3:29
And there it is in the list of plugins.
3:32
Let's click on it, And boom, the plugin
is open and ready for us to use.
3:35
But there is still another way to access
plugins while in our design file.
3:41
We can right click anywhere on
our canvas including inside or
3:45
outside of a frame to access a menu with
plugins as its second to last option.
3:48
And if we select Plugins, we'll get
a list of our most recently used plugins.
3:52
As well as the option to run our last
plugin and the option to manage plugins.
3:57
If we click on Manage Plugins,
4:01
it will take us to the plugins tab
under resources in our main menu.
4:02
So it's just another option to perform
the same task, use whichever option you
4:06
prefer and is the most comfortable for
you and your workflow.
4:10
All right, now that we know how
to find and install plugins,
4:13
let's get started by reviewing our
first AI powered plugin, WireGen.
