I found it easier to use softaculous for SQL server and imported the Treehouse DB into Sequal PRO.

I found the video on loading the Workbench on a mac as complicated as anything I have ever witnessed here on Treehouse. I also don't like the interface. I am used to using softaculous which has a mysql server. I have just imported the Treehouse_db in Sequal Pro and it works fine. Is this OK? Just an insight for anyone else who thought the installation on mac was as complicated as hell.

Whatever works for you! The Database Foundations course is fairly old now I think...

You're never tied down to the software that the course teachers uses, it's generally just easier because then you can follow along with exactly how they are doing it.

As long as you can figure out how to achieve all of the same things (in this case, just running MySQL queries should be fairly straightforward), then there's nothing stopping you.

Some things may be a bit different though, like the default maximum number of rows returned or similar.

We will see when we get there. Just doing a bit o brushing up on SQL in any case.
