A PSA on Adobe products and free software thread!

AN ADOBE PSA.

Adobe CC reads everything a user is doing in their screen, reports it to heir HQ as plaintext. They also sell your info to make money off of those sweet, sweet spam lists. don't believe me? Make your own domain name when you buy webhosting, register adobe products to it or use an old education address. Watch the spam flow in.

Update Timeline [from 2nd article--full links in article] Ars Technica independently confirms many details. [http://arstechnica.com/security/2014/10/adobes-e-book-reader-sends-your-reading-logs-back-to-adobe-in-plain-text/] A second confirmation comes in from Liza Daly of Safari Books.[ https://twitter.com/liza/status/519491816274817024 ] Adobe responds. [http://the-digital-reader.com/2014/10/07/adobe-responds-reports-spying-half-truths-misleading-statements/] Digital Editions 4.0.1 is released, and does not spy on users. ]http://the-digital-reader.com/2014/10/23/adobe-updates-digital-edition-stops-sharing-user-info-internet/] The EFF confirms all of my initial report. Why am I posting this? Because people have a right to know. Adobe's tools are wonderful, but free software that does similar things also exist. And in accordance with Richard Stallman's Free Software principles, it produces uneven power or a yoke over it's users. Take a look at the Free software foundation. Good stuff, mate. in the meantime, if you must have a photo editor tool, CS6 does not have the problems that CC does. I use my library and college for those tools, mainly, but there are alternatives. GIMP is one. http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

Coral Draw is an alternative to Adobe Illustrator. http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Product/1191272117978#tabview=tab0

There are many others. http://www.onextrapixel.com/2011/03/15/10-best-alternatives-to-adobe-illustrator/
