Adobe Fireworks Colors

I'm not much of a designer but I am trying to create a logo using Adobe Fireworks.

I got my logo created, but now I'm testing out different color palette's to see how my logo looks in different colors.

My question is: Why is it when I specify a HEX value for the color, Fireworks does not use the same numbers I entered.

For example:

I changed the color of my icon to #E4491C, then I came back to the color property and now Adobe is displaying the value : #CC3333

This isn't just happening to one color I noticed a few colors are displaying a different value.

Does anyone know why? And does it matter, or is there a way to fix it?

I believe #CC3333 is the closest websafe color to #E4491C. So my guess is that Fireworks is set to only use web safe colors at the moment. I'm not very familiar with the software so I couldn't say how you might change that setting. But that's my guess as to what's going on.

As to whether it matters, that depends on how you like the color scheme with the web safe colors. There isn't really a reason to go with web safe colors these days though as nearly everyone will be using a display capable of supporting the precise color you want.

Sounds like Matt McAnelly has nailed it according to this

Make sure "Snap to web safe" is turned off in the context menu of the color picker.

Thanks for the "Snap to web safe" tip, unchecking that option worked for me.
