AJAX Retired

Could someone explain to me why the updated AJAX course doesn't teach jQuery-based AJAX? Did something happen or is jQuery no longer recommended to be used when making AJAX requests?

The "fetch" mechanism provides a native interface that's about as easy to use as jQuery. My guess is they figured it was easier to learn and decided it was the preferred method to teach.

A bit of a shame, though, since jQuery has some neat stuff "under the hood" that fetch doesn't do — like the ability to resolve many CORS issues transparently.
