Anybody need help with UI design ? I'm volunteering

Hi

I am unemployed and thus have a lot of spare time and would be happy help anyone with designing a web site UI or a mobile UI (I don't have any experience with mobile but I'll give it a go). It'll be strictly mockups as I don't have the skills to code currently. I design in Sketch so I won't be able to provide a .psd but I can slice up the assets and provide them in a zip file.

I don't claim to be anywhere near the professional level as I've only been learning design via books and tutorials for a few months. I'd like to help out on peoples projects as it could be mutually beneficial to both parties. I'll get a new portfolio piece and you'll (hopefully) a get a design that your happy with and can use a guide when coding up. Who knows, maybe it'll lead to some paid work for me down the line?

Below is a link to my behance profile and some imgur (larger and better quality) links to my latest designs.

Hi Marcus,

I'd be interested in a second opinion on my site at RecipeHappy.com. I am working on becoming a Front-end Web Developer (for about ten months) so know some code.

If I can be of assistance let me know.

Hi Lonnie

I wouldn't make any drastic changes as I like the minimalist approach you've taken. Here's my suggestions :-

  1. Move the two tabs on the left hand side down so they are in-line with 'Keep all recipes' headline.
  2. On your active link 'add a recipe' in the nav, up the the font-weight one level to make it stand out a bit more.
  3. Add maybe 5px more space between the elements on recipe form as they look slightly bunched up.
  4. Remove the blur on the form mouseover, I think it looks more elegant without it.
  5. Use the same styling and button used on the recipe form on the login/signup form.
  6. Style the Contact and FAQ buttons at the bottom page the same way you've done one the nav at the top but obviously smaller.
  7. Instead of using the + button under the save this recipe button make a small descriptive heading and use the same button style as you used above with a label like 'Click here'.
  8. Move the logo down about 50px as it's a little too close to the nav.

That's what I'd do personally.

Hello Marcus,

How do you like using Sketch3 vs Photoshop for UI Design?

It's a dream to use and so easy to learn. If I was told I had to use Photoshop only from now on I'd seriously think about giving up. From the little I used Photoshop I found it very cumbersome and at it's core it's always going to be a photo editor. Sketch on the other hand was purposely built for UI design and it shows.

No worries, it's brilliant isn't it? I've seen those tutorials too, they were pretty damn good if I remember correctly.
