anyone help with downloaded fonts and inkscape? Font displaying in inkscape but not showing when the svg is put on site

I have downloaded a font (righteous) originally as a ttf, then tried an otf (after it didn't work) that I want to use in a logo I'm making with inkscape (on a mac). The font shows up in Inkscape but when i put it on my site the text doesn't show up, just the images that I have created next to it. Any ideas on why this is happening, and how to solve it would be most appreciated. I'm trying to display it as

I believe you need a woff type font for putting on a website.
