asp.net or php

Hello everyone. so . in my school im about to take a decision between PHP. OR asp.net. for the next 2 years ( ive done abit of php but never touched asp.net) and im not really sure on what to pick, and why the one over the other. I was hoping you guys could give me an idea of the actual difference and why one over another. ty, any comments is appreciated.

hmm.. it is about preference I would say. Asp.net is a bit complicated (Involved) than php.

You also need to consider PHP is installed in virtually every webhost company but .net isn't (not sure how cloud computing has changed this though!)

Things are changing for better! As you may know, .Net is currently coming to both Linux and OS X.
