I'm in the process of creating an online service that will be used by the general public. I've already decided on the name and have a UK and US trademark. The service will initially be launched in the UK and US. There will be some differences between the countries and so I think using localised domain names is best.
I already own .co.uk but I'm struggling to know what is best to use in the US. .com and .net are already taken (but not being used) and I don't currently have the finances to make a realistic offer. I do own .us - do many websites use this in the US? I also own .co but I'm not convinced that it's very strong for branding.
I'd be interested in peoples views/opinions.

6,873 PointsYou should also note that a lot of localized top level domain names require citezenship of that country. Otherwise you run the risk of someone from that country challenging for ownership and winning your domain

160 PointsDepends on the name...sometimes .us works, but usually not. I've used it once to showcase a custom theme we developed lawpress.us, but generally as your primary company site, I would shy away from .us unless it really works with the name in a creative way.
Have you tried .co which a lot of startups are now using and there is a great community http://go.co. Also, more and more tech companies are using .io (input/output).
