Can I use AppCode instead of Xcode?

My Macbook is having trouble downloading the latest version of xcode because I have a macbook from 2012. Would I be able to take the iOS development course using AppCode instead or will I run into issues with the course?

I loved JetBrains PyCharm so I already have trust with them, but I wanted to see if anyone in Treehouse has used that instead of Xcode. Thanks for the help!

All the videos are recorded with Xcode, but they're designed to show you how to use the language and core frameworks, and not so much Xcode. I haven't personally used AppCode before, but I believe just about everything that Xcode does, AppCode will, too. At the very least, it should cover the basics that Treehouse teaches. As long as you can figure out the equivalent buttons and such that the teacher presses in the videos, you should be able to use AppCode just fine
