Can someone assist me with this code? I can't get it corrcect

There is something that I'm coding incorrectly. Help!

function max(x, y) {
  if ('x'>'y') {
    return('x');
}
  else {
    return('y');
    ]

You need to take the quotes out, when you put the variable names in quotes you're representing the actual characters 'x' and 'y' not the values stored inside of them. compare them without the quotes and your code will check the actual variables against each other.
