Can you please show me an example of a conditional statement with numbers involved because I am lost?

Unsure about a conditional statement for an argument using numbers.

function max(x, y) { //the arguments to be name anything you like, I used x & y
 if (x > y) { //testing to see if x is larger than y
  return x;  // if x is larger than y return x
 } else { //If not 
  return y; //return y
 }
}

alert(max(34, 120)); //Task 2, pass in the numbers using alert
