Cannot open Tar. FILE in Virtual console! PLEASE HELP!

It wanted me to extract the tar. file in my console so i copied the the web link into it for extraction, IDK! what to doooo. Im following him very well till now :((( please help!

What are you trying to do? Which video? Can you provide more details? What commands are you using?

Guess what. I mixed up "xvf" for "xfv" when i was trying to un-tar my file :) Silly me. Thanks for helping though.

Cool! No worries. I always just type man [utility] This reminds me of all the various options. In this case it would be man tar or man info

Or just Google it. But the man pages give you extra geek points.

Austin - getting the order of the arguments wrong shouldn't matter - tar should be just as cool with "-xvf" as with "-xfv." Maybe something else was wrong?

  • step 1 download the file using curl
  • step 2 decompress the file using tar
