Cannot use MAMP after upgrading to Yosemite?

I found this terrific, easy fix. http://peterahlgren.com/making-mamp-work-in-os-x-yosemite/#comment-6615

I am sure I am not the only one now that Yosemite is out of beta.

Shoot, Jonathan Haro, it had over 300 positive likes so I was hoping it was the fix! Kim Lorimier, glad to hear you got it taken care of. I'll make sure my MAMP is upgraded — just installed Yosemite because I was tired of getting the notification popup to update every day. ;)

Hi Kim,

I'm on Yosemite and haven't had any issues using MAMP, which version are you using as only the past 4 releases work, anything before then had either poor compatibility or doesn't work well.

If you're not on the latest version it's recommended you update as a few bugs have been squashed since Yosemite was released to the world.

Is Yosemite the new OS for Mac that is replacing Mavericks?

I still haven't gotten my WD Passport external drive to work since the last upgrade (Mavericks). Seems like things just break every time I update! Is the upgrade to Yosemite even worth it?

Yes, Maverick is OS X 10.9 and Yosemite is OS X 10.10 it came out a week ago (Oct. 16th).

Well, I guess it depends. I do like a few of the features. For me, I especially like that phone calls can be received through my computer. That is what sold me on it.

I will admit that my initial enthusiasm for the quick fix hasn't completely worked out. Although I can open MAMp now and all seems fine, the database connection is not working for my existing sites that are on my local server. I'll let you know if I figure anything out. The initial fix was a 30 second job.

Interesting on the call aspect: Is the calling through the computer any different than Google Voice? I've been using that since moving to Canada to call friends and family in the States and across Canada. Is it possible to route your personal number through instead of having to use a new Google Voice number? I'd be interested in that, too.

But as for it not working with MAMP, that's super disheartening. I'm all ears if you find anything out.

I tried this and no luck for me.

I was able to fix Yosemite with my first solution. BUT, only then did I realize that I did not have the most current version of MAMP. It surprised me because I have only been using it for a about a month. The upgrade may have helped even without the fix. Good luck and make sure your MAMP is updated.

It's cool. I ended up just using my webhost as a way to practice through the PHP tutorials.
