Can't create a repository and publish it? It says"You need to upgrade your account plan to create private repositories".

Why can't I create a repository and publish it? I watched the intro to GitHub video. As soon as he downloaded GitHub, everything was different. The software has been updated but the video has not.

Regardless, I can create a repository as needed for my first project, but when I go to click Publish, I can't publish and there is a message saying "You need to upgrade your account plan to create private repositories". Should I be creating a public one somehow? Again, the video is out of date.

I am not exactly sure why you are seeing that. I believe they recently changed so free accounts had unlimited private repositories. I would check you account with github to make sure it is all square.

You use public repositories. The interface has just changed a bit since the video was made. I figured it out on my own eventually.
