Can't install MAMP 3.0.6. Has anyone faced this problem?

I tried to install MAMP 3.0.6. and it gave me this error message:

"The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail.Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

I tried the MAMP forum and noticed that a previous user tried to install it but no one ever answered that question. Does anyone here have an answer?

Hi It sounds like has nothing to do with the MAMP itself. Usually we would get this error when we try to install anything -not just mamp- and the installer somehow got damaged during download process

Could you try to download again & make sure the internet connection is as its best

Good luck

Hi, I downloaded again and it failed again. I'm going to try looking for earlier versions of MAMP because it's really not working.

I'm going to suggest pasting that exact error message into a search engine and viewing some of the results. I'm pretty sure the problem isn't unique and someone already put the answer out there. Last night I ran into a problem with MAMP, but I'm running Yosemite beta. The fix was pretty simple. I had to rename a file by adding a underscore.

Hi David, I tried searching but it seems no one has an answer. I'm all of out ideas save for one which is to search for an earlier version of MAMP. I don't know what else to do.

Hi Kia,

I'm not sure how or what to suggest you to do as I've never encountered this kind of issue before. Well I did, but as I mentioned earlier it turned out that the installer wasn't really completely downloaded (I'm in Bangkok, Thailand and the internet is just weird here sometimes).

And I also found out sometimes that if we paste our problem on google and there's no other having the same issue, most likely the problem is settings in my own machine.

Perhaps David is more experienced with this? Are you on Yosemite beta as well?

Hi Ben,

I just started learning development. I don't know what Yosemite beta is, so no, I don't think I am.

I've tried searching whatever I can dig up and what I found is that makers of MAMP don't provide any user support whatsoever, even for those who bought MAMP Pro. And their older versions 2.2's ZIP file literally came up empty! I've given up on MAMP and I'm going to try the alternatives like AMPPS.

I don't recommend anyone installing MAMP since their support as some developers have claimed "non-existent".

Apparently, the Mac has some stuff preinstalled so if AMPPS doesn't work, I'll try those. I found an interesting link: https://www.lullabot.com/blog/article/setting-my-mac-without-mamp

Whatever the case, I want to learn! And I won't let a lousy company that doesn't take pride in their work to at least answer crucial problems like these get in my way! I sincerely hope someone from Team Treehouse looks into the problem with using MAMP and updates the lessons so other students can have a better experience in the lesson.

Hi Ben,

I tried downloading from my mobile connection instead and it worked! So I think you're right, there may have been some problems with my WIFI though I'm not sure what because the internet back home is working fine and usually doesn't have any problems.

Thanks, I sincerely appreciate the help you've given!

Thanks, David and Ben, for taking the time and effort to help! Didn't get my problem with MAMP solved but I will try out other alternatives. I just hope that one of them works out because this is extremely important to me!

Hi May Loh, Glad it worked! :) Keep up & when there is problem just keep calm, because sometimes actually there's no problem at all. Happy coding!
