JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Creating Reusable Code with Functions Passing an Argument to a Function

Can't understand what is needed here

"Now that you've created the returnValue function, call it, by passing it a literal string value -- a series of characters in quote marks like this: 'My argument'. Store the results of the function in a variable named echo." this is the task. I'm confused where I need to put that 'My argument'

Maybe I missunderstood the task, but I simply can't figure out what the final code should look like, my attempt is posted here, but it's incorrect.

script.js
function returnValue(){
  var echo = "My argument";
 return echo;

}
index.html
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">

</head>
<body>
<script src="script.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

Hi, The first part is to write a function that takes an argument

// First challenge
function returnValue(arg) {
  return arg;
}

// then call your new function with a string.
var echo = returnValue("I'm passing in an argument to my new function");

Hope this makes sense. :)

It asks you to call a function, not build one :)

Calling and storing the output in a variable name echo should look like this:

var echo = returnValue("My argument");
