The @media (max-width: 768px) is nested inside @media (max-width: 1020px). It has to be outside. This should do it:

@media (max-width: 1020px) {
    .main-header {
        background-color: tomato;
        color: white;
    }
}

@media (max-width: 768px) {
    .title {
        font-size: 1.4rem;
    }

    h1 {
        font-size: 5rem;
    }
}

Hope it works :)!

Have you tried targeting the h1 using the class name .main-heading?
