Change the if statement to a switch statement......

The question is: https://teamtreehouse.com/library/php-arrays-and-control-structures/php-conditionals/switch-statements , and my solution is: <?php //Available roles: admin, editor, author, subscriber if (!isset($role)) { $role = 'subscriber'; }

//change to switch statement switch ($role != 'admin') { echo "As an admin, you can add, edit, or delete any post."; } , but compare this message: Bummer! syntax error, unexpected 'echo' (T_ECHO), expecting case (T_CASE) or default (T_DEFAULT) or '}' in switch.php on line 9 Why?

Hi,

You just replaced text 'if' with text 'switch'. You need to replace the if statement with switch statement.

Switch is like

switch($role) {
    case 'xxx':
        echo 'nn';
        break;
    default:
        echo 'default case';
}

You are missing case-statements and you are checking if role is not admin. You don't need to do this. The switch-case statement is meant for that.

Copy paste my example code and replace xxx with admin and the nn with the correct text.
