Checking website authorship

I am got two developers both claiming to have created the same website but on their own. Now the question is how do l find out the truth of which of them created the site without getting the details out of them because they both would probably lie again anyways. Abit of dishonest in the industry n need to weed out the good one.

Ask them to create a HTML comment saying their name on the home page, then check by viewing the page source.

Cases like this are where something like humans.txt comes in handy

could have them show you the actual files. Do they both have a copy of them?
