But aside from that, I find the concept of a "study buddy" a bit curious since I've always found that one of the advantages of online training as offered here is that it is entirely self-paced. Now I do see the appeal for people enrolled in a structured and/or instructor-led program. But here it seems like it might be contra-productive, at least for the fastest learner of the pair.

Courses Plus Student 42 PointsSteven, this can be counter-productive for the faster learner, but still the concept of "study buddy" differs a lot from the instructor-led program because that way one ultimately gives the responsibility of his/her learning to his/her instructor which in the long run does not yield much. However when you know your goals, your learning tracks (already provided here at Treehouse) then you are responsible for your education besides you just gotta keep yourself motivated and disciplined to what is being offered and study buddy helps in this regards!
