Is it worth watching conferences such as generate nyc 2014. or are there things you can learn easier from other videos

it is a great learning tool but if you want to learn at a faster pace on different subjects its just a thing you should do if you have the time

It really is up to you, depending on how much you want to learn. If you want to learn extra, and try to become a better designer/developer, I recommend watching the conferences.
