26,676 PointsHi Jake,
Let's break this down into each task.
Task 1
Modify the function named
greetingto accept a parameter. Name the parameterpersonwhich is of typeString.
So what this is saying is we need to declare a parameter called person and assign it the type String which we can do by putting a colon between our parameter name and the type.
func greeting(person: String) {
println("Hello")
}
Task 2
Modify the
printlnstatement within thegreetingfunction to use the variableperson. For example, if you pass a person named "Tom" to the function then it should display: Hello Tom. (Hint: you must use string interpolation).
If you remember from the introduction to Swift course we saw interpolation in action which is the use of \() inside a string literal, all we need to do is pass person into it.
func greeting(person: String) {
println("Hello \(person)")
}
Task 3
Call the function greeting and pass it the string "Tom".
Finally we just need to call our greeting function and supply it with the string Tom as the parameter.
func greeting(person: String) {
println("Hello \(person)")
}
greeting("Tom")
