I am having an issue launching the console using the button provided in the course. The error I am getting is "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to console.teamtreehouse.com:3388". I'm assuming this is because I am using a Windows machine. What can I do remedy this problem short of buying a different computer?

That should be unrelated to your OS. I have a Windows 7 computer, and I just tried it and it works fine on mine.
You already excluded the possible issue of a browser extension conflict, by trying multiple browsers.
The error you are getting sounds suspiciously like a DNS error, if that's the case then it's possible Treehouse was having issues at the time you tried or something on your system/network is interfering with that DNS request.
If you are currently having issues I'd recommend you email Treehouse support (help@teamtreehouse.com) and they should be able to get you going.
