Content Management without third-party

Is it completely normal to manage your website's content without a Content Managing System like WordPress? Is it okay if I just edit the HTML to get the content in place or is that method ridiculously absurd and inefficient.

For someone who doesn't rely on WordPress or other such platforms while web designing, it feels like I'm a minority.

Trying to edit your HTML to get content into place is very inefficient unless you are dealing with a very small and static website (content needing very little updating or changing. But most sites need little refreshers of content. Maybe it's a new image in a slider, or some other little widget.

One of the best things I ever did was just go all in on learning themeing with a CMS, and I went with Wordpress first. I don't regret it, and I wouldn't go back.

If you need a plain simple website you can work around without the use of CMS. CMS is a helper tool and not must use workflow.
