Creating Spritesheet

Hey Mat Helme Nick Pettit ,

First of all, I just want to say that I am a huge fan of ALL your designs, from the design of your website over the explainer animations in the videos to the design of the each and every project, everything just looks amazing! :)

In the Create a Simple iOS App series, Amit says that you made the animation of the crystal ball in After Effects and then made 60 screenshots of them. Is there a way in After Effects to take photos of an animation in a predetermined interval automatically? Or does one have to do this manually by taking screenshots 30-60 times a second?

Thank you very much!

Keep up the great design & animations! ;)

Cheers, Pascal

Hello Pascal, I think Amit was talking about rendering out a sequence of images , through the AE renderer, instead of a movie file like a Quicktime.

When I rendered the animation , I used a PNG sequence with no compression or alpha. Ended up with 1 file per frame. Amit ran them back in order , at the desired frame rate. As in how many frames in that sequence run per second of time. Hope that helps, feel free to let me know if you have any more questions.
