I will have to make some assumptions as I don't know the full purpose/deliverable behind the app or it's intended audiance, I will try and include any assumptions in my answers.

The base of the design is clean and pleasing to look at, although there are a few concerns with the UI placement/function.

The quotes panel on the main authors page with it being a separate scroll area would be frustrating as it's further from the thumb due to the social media icons. I would suggest not having two separate scroll-able areas on a page. If the main page itself scrolls than no other sections should scroll interdependently.

The hamburger menu, while they have become extremely popular especially in mobile applications they are not considered to be overly user friendly. Two reasons for this one with it being in the top-left corner almost always places it the furthest from the users thumb, second is many people do no fully understand the icon especially less technologically savvy individuals. The second part has been personally backed up by research I've done at my own workplace as part of a recent projects user experience case study. I was quite shocked at how few would do directly to the icon for the menu but would first check the page they were on fully before resorting to the menu to do to another section of the application. The better solution was found to place a menu bar at the bottom of the screen with key 4-5 menu options, if there were more than 5 menu items than using the 5th icon as a hamburger appeared to be much more effective as the primary items were now always accessible. Some further reading that I came across on the topic may be of assistance on this is Kill The Hamburger Button There are certainly more articles out there but this should help you get started.
