Disemvowel Exercise

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here, I've tried adding a try/except block around the remove bit inside the If statement but no luck. I keep getting an error that it got back different letters than expected

disemvowel.py 
def disemvowel(word):
    word=list(word)
    vowels=['a','e', 'i','o','u','A','E','I','O','U']

    for letter in word:
        if letter in vowels:
            word.remove(letter)
    return word

Could you explain what word = list(word) does? I see that it convets word into a list, but why does that have to be done?

Removing items from the list you are iterating leads to unpredictable results. You would be better to iterate the vowels list.

for letter in vowel:
    word.remove(letter)
