Distressed Brush?

Is there a way you guys would recommend to create a distressed brush? it'd be cool to use on objects or on an entire piece. Here's an effect I'm hoping to achieve.

There are many good distressed brush packs you can download and drop into your brushes folder to use. If you want to make your own, there are some good tutorials like on this page: http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/tools-tips/tools-tips-photoshop-brushes/

The design you are referring to was created in Illustrator so you would probably get a better result by placing a transparent tiff from photoshop into illustrator and using the transparency mask technique. More than likely this was not a brush but a texture originally from concrete or textured surface. There are tutorials regarding both transparent tiffs and using transparency mask on youtube. Its a great technique.
