Do the commands taught in Console Foundations work for all other POSIX system consoles? Windows?

Using iterm on my mac and wondering if all these commands will work. Does the type/version of console matter and will the commands work on windows systems as well?

The Workspaces console is running on Linux. So the commands should work on other POSIX systems.

Using uname to inspect the Workspaces OS shows it's running on 64-bit GNU/Linux

treehouse:~/workspace$ uname
Linux
treehouse:~/workspace$ uname -a
