14,146 PointsDoes anyone use Inkscape or GIMP?
Just wondering if anyone uses these two programs for design instead of Photoshop or Illustrator? I know that Treehouse has tutorials on PS and Illustrator, and that they're basically the industry standard. However they're not the only tools out there. So that makes me wonder how many designers actually use these alternatives in their business on a regular basis.

9,502 PointsWhen I first started I used GIMP. It certainly is a very capable program. Most things that Photoshop GIMP can do. However the one thing I found was that when I switched to Photoshop it was usually easier to accomplish certain tasks. The workflow of Photoshop is better. But with the right plugins and some time learning a good workflow, GIMP is a very viable, cheaper alternative to Photoshop.
Inkscape is a very cool program from the little that I've used it. I never really did much with vectors, but once I got an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, I had access to Illustrator so I never really took time to really learn Inkscape
