Does the domain name i choose affect visibility.? Will a .com domain be more visible globally than a .co.uk?

I currently have a number of site created on a .co.uk or .uk.com domans.

Does this influence the visibility globally by from search engines such as google etc.?

If I was searching the web whilst in Dubai, would a .com website get more exposure than my .co.uk?

A SEO marketer suggested that the domain would have an affect! If so would a forward address help improve this?

Any other suggestions on how I could market my sites globally would be appreciated?

It's unfortunate, but probably true.

I've heard stories of a person telling other people "My blog is on suchandsuchdomain.net," and then later he finds out that they went to "suchandsuchdomain.com" instead. Many consumers expect all websites to end in ".com."

Maybe in the UK, it's a bit different and consumers are educated to know the .co.uk domains. The .com domain would definitely bring you more views, though.

I'd recommend SEO Basics, but it looks like you already took that course. Great job!
