Domain Name not connected with the Web Hosting Server

Hi,
I was following the steps provided in the video tutorials to launch the website
• I bought the domain name in http://www.namecheap.com and
• Host the website in http://www.dreamhost.com.
• I have also uploaded my files to the website (dreamhost) using sftp.
• The custom Domain Name Servers have also been specified in the "Domain Name Server Setup" in http://www.namecheap.com (shown in the video as well), i.e.: ns1.dreamhost.com, ns2.dreamhost.com, ns3.dreamhost.com.

It has been more than 24 hours since I configured everything but yet I still cannot access my website. Am I missing something here?

This is my domain name: www.vargassi.com

EDIT:
I can now successfully access my website from the registered domain.

I just want to give an update in case there will be some other person encountering the same issue. This problem has been finally resolved after following Mike's suggestion to contact the hosting company (www.dreamhost.com). The helpdesk there assisted me by adding the domain name www.vargassi.com into some Domain name registration page in some panel page.

So, apparently other than registering the name server in namecheap.com, I also had to ensure that the domain name is also registered in the hosting company.

It sounds like you did everything correct. I would just double check a few things. 1) make sure your website files are in the correct directory. 2) make sure you have your website pointing to the correct namesevers.

Also, I would clear your browsers cache, just in-case the browser is showing a cached copy of your website.

If it's been 24 hours, I would contact the hosting company (http://www.dreamhost.com) just to confirm everything is correct.

Hi Mike, Thank you for the reply! It's my first time being involved to this website hosting. Please bear with me.

I have contacted dreamhost.com and they have referred me to a link on how to 'Add a new domain'. I have followed the steps and added my domain name. Then I tried to visit the website again (www.vargassi.com) but nothing has changed. The exact same error is still displayed there.

If you don't mind, please help to correct me (I'm sure I'm getting it wrong somewhere): After registering in dreamhost.com, they emailed me the server (let's say 'randomserver.dreamhost.com') so that I can sftp my files there, which I already did.

After that I registered both dreamhost.com nameservers in the namecheap.com and registered my domain (vargassi.com) in the dreamhost.com.

Now at this point, am I wrong to expect that when I ping www.vargassi.com it will show me the same IP address as when I ping 'randomserver.dreamhost.com'? Because currently they're different. I'm kinda lost here :(

You don't need to transfer anything Iwan Satria Nugraha. There's something called nameservers which, when a domain name is entered, routes things to your directory where all the files are. You'll need to go to namecheap and enter into the nameservers section, the dreamhost name servers.

This is why buying hosting and domain together is easier as it's all handled in one place.

Give it 30 minutes to 24 hours to propogate when done and clear your browser cache.

Will I need to do some kind of domain transfer or anything between namecheap.com and dreamhost.com?
