env app_url?

in my .env file I modified APP_URL to localhost:8000, and my nav blade has the links set ro env 'app_url', but in the browser it still navigates to e.g. http://localhost/tracks and I get a 404. How do I get it to go to http://localhost:8000/tracks? Do I need a cache clear? or to configure elsewhere? Thanks.
