Feedback for a WordPress website I created using Bootstrap framework

Hi everyone, I joined Treehouse about halfway through last year (2014) with the intention of upskilling and learning more about web design and development in general. I also joined because I had taken on a paid project which I soon realised I didn't have ALL the necessary skills to complete. I already had a background in Design, and some experience working on websites, but with the introduction of Responsive design/dev techniques over the past few years I realised I was way behind the 8 Ball.

As of last Friday, my latest project finally saw the light of day, despite not being 100% complete the client had enough waiting and insisted that it was good enough to launch. I have been working hard to incorporate things like social media channels along with google analytics over the past few days in order to best help promote the business.

Now that it's up and running, I would love to hear from the Treehouse community any feedback relating to the design or functionality of the website, and if anyone has any suggestions as to what could be improved. Everything has been hand coded and built on WordPress, I used the Bootstrap framework in order to best accommodate responsive elements in the design in order not to have to re-create the wheel.

While I'm not sure if I would use Bootstrap again, it has been an extremely valuable learning experience in regard to understanding how to implement frameworks into the design workflow. I have since come to understand that while frameworks such as Bootstrap offer an amazing amount of functionality, they also add to extensive code bloat when only limited aspects are incorporated into a site, ironically preventing a site from being completely responsive in nature.

Think it looks great. How much time did you spend on it?

That's a difficult question to answer. I really should have timed the work hrs spent on it (Which I foolishly didn't) and I've been working through all the treehouse courses, which have helped me get my head around it all. I started work on it about March 2014, at that stage I knew enough about how to make a WordPress site and manage it, but had little actual idea about the realities of implementing any responsive technologies.

I see well everything good takes time and my first couple of websites took me a while but after couple of them you really start to get the hang of it and eventually you get around everything faster.

I agree. The learning curve is far greater than it used to be though, when I first started dabbling in web design few years ago all I needed really was a good foundation in HTML and an understanding of CSS. The sites we need to make today are far more complex in order to deal with the broad array of output devices and social interactivity. Having said that there's so much more exciting work being done
