Feedback on web design

I'm currently working on a website for a small bakery and I would really appreciate your feedback on the design of the site. The goal at the beginning was to design something elegant and simple which would complement the rustic, artisan style of breads which they bake.

Does the design communicate this to you? Visually, do you find the site pleasant to browse? Is the text easily readable and do you think that the font sizes and colours make sense?

You can find the development site here: http://www.ruapukebreads.danielcoats.net/

I like the design, its simple to look and at and navigate colors are nice too. 1 thing i would do is ensure on the contact form all inputs are the same width so it flows more consistently.

I like it.

I'm impressed. Did you make this based off your learning at Treehouse?

I agree with Adam Sackfield regarding the input widths on the content page.

For the responsive side of things I've try making the logo top of the page and the links underneath.

Good work!

I agree with the logo, the links should be all in one place. I would even look at a collapse on smaller devices as seems to be the standard these days for UI plus more screen resources for actual content.

Thank you! It was incredible waking up to all your great feedback and ideas (I'm on New Zealand time). I've made a few refinements to the site and it looks like we'll be launching tomorrow. Credit must also go to Treehouse, whose web design and WordPress courses have been a massive aid to my development as a web designer over the last few months.

Good Work!

Hi Daniel, I feel the site meets all those goals. It is very easy to read and navigate around. The design is very bready and with those photos I can almost smell it.

I did notice a couple of things with the responsive design (e.g. the menu starts to overlap before collapsing for the small screen view). I realise this may not yet be finished as you were asking specifically about the look/fonts/colours.

Here's a quick overview of my thoughts which are mostly subjective and quite minor things in terms of the overall look site.

Thank you! I really appreciate how thorough your feedback is, and I've gone ahead and made a number of refinements based on your advice.

Very nice! For me though, the pictures take a while to load.

Pictures are loading quite slow, so you could try to tweak the quality a bit in Photoshop. I like the websites overall clean look and use of colors. It really draws the attention to the products.

For the news section I would leave out the sidebar and go for fullwidth display of the newsitems. Or maybe use the sidebar to lead the customers to the products page.

Cheers, I've gone ahead and downsized a few of the images which were slow to load and will take a look at the loading times to speed things up further. Also, great point on the news section, as I agree the sidebar was really quite redundant for this site. Thanks again!

There should be a little space between the picture on the homepage and the text next to it. Other than that I love it, its beautiful!
