Git Bash and Windows 8.1

I can't seem to push my directory through to Github using Git Bash and Windows 8.1. I'm not sure what the problem is; git will accept my git push command, but then it give me a message saying that everything is "up to date". Then when I log onto Github, the pushed document isn't there. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you solve it?

I would check to make sure the remote is set up and pushing to the right repo using "git remote -v". I'd check that I'm on the right branch as well by using "git branch" and checking to make sure it's on master (assuming that's where you want to push). Would need more info to help you out.
