git remote add not working

I can't seem to get passed the first part of the challenge, but I'm not sure what I'm missing I'm doing wrong... I need to add a remote repo which is hosted at git://mygithosting.com/git_basics/cool_stuff.git. This is what I tired:

git remote add cool_stuff git://mygithosting.com/git_basics/cool_stuff.git

Hi Mike, are you referring to 1st part of this challenge?

It only asks you to clone the repo. git remote add isn't the right tool for this task.

git clone git://mygithosting.com/git_basics/cool_stuff.git

This would be the correct way of cloning a remote repo. Hope it helps.

Hi Mike,

Does the cool_stuff repo exist on mygithosting already? Not sure how that service works, but on Github you have to create the repo first, then use git remote add to connect your local repo to it.

Best, Cena

Thanks for the quick responses! I completely missed that I only needed to clone the repo. I've selected William's answer as the best answer.

Thanks again!
