JavaScript npm Basics Managing Packages with NPM Ignore Files and Directories with gitignore

So do i just need to add node_modules/ in the files and github will recognize what files is inside this or do i need to give path?

Yes, adding node_modules/ will ignore the entire directory. Check out this quick read about gitignore.
