Front End Web Development Techdegree Graduate 56,488 PointsNo you do not, I would say that knowing some front end certainly helps a lot, but you do not have to do the front end courses first if you do not want to :)

Treehouse Moderator 11,077 PointsActually in comparison to the other answers provided, I suggest that you should learn front-end development. Remember that a full-stack developer is someone who works on both the front and back end stacks. Having the ability to program in the front-end (html, css) will only strengthen your javascript skills, but not having it will weaken them severely. You can't really be a good full-stack developer if you only understand one facet of your stack.

I interpreted his question as whether he have to finish the front end courses first before going into the full-stack ones. I don't think you need to finish the front-end track before starting the full-stack JavaScript track, there are some front end courses in the full-stack JavaScript after all.
But yes, I do agree, a full-stack developer really should have the ability to work on the front end, this developer is full-stack after all.

231,110 PointsI'd say you don't need to do front-end development first, but I recommend it. There will be some overlap, so you can move through the full stack track faster by skipping courses you've already taken. And the courses that don't overlap will give you better understanding of other aspects of front-end design, which is where JavaScript is heavily used.

Why i ask that because i need to know about HTML/CSS clearly , i want to build a responsive web site, make some project , then i come focus Javascript . So i mean , if i learn like this , it's waste time or not :) I see the track in full stack javascript , it's many thing and maybe it deeper for learning javascript more than the front-end dev course. :(
