Python Python Basics (2015) Python Data Types Use .split() and .join()

Hello, I can't figure it out how to complete this task. If you can, please explain me how to do it and why to do so! THX

Can't figure it out, watching 4-5 times and dont know it yet. Please explain me where I'm wrong and why. Thanks a lot on this journey.

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
available.split(';')
', '.join(available)
"sundaes: " + ', '.join(available)

You're forgetting to assign your new variables.

Your call to split is good, but you forgot that the challenge said to "Assign this to a new variable sundaes." WIthout storing the result of the function anywhere, it gets "lost".

Later, when you do the join, you'll need that variable (instead of available). ANd of course, that line will have it's own variable assignment.
