22,190 PointsHello. I have been struggling with JavaScript and the Dom and I cannot think of a way to resolve this question. TIA
I'm sure the problem is fairly obvious and I'm just overlooking something simple.
var listItems = document.getElementById('rainbow');
var colors = ["#C2272D", "#F8931F", "#FFFF01", "#009245", "#0193D9", "#0C04ED", "#612F90"];
for(var i = 0; i < colors.length; i ++) {
listItems[i].style.color = colors[i];
}
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Rainbow!</title>
</head>
<body>
<ul id="rainbow">
<li>This should be red</li>
<li>This should be orange</li>
<li>This should be yellow</li>
<li>This should be green</li>
<li>This should be blue</li>
<li>This should be indigo</li>
<li>This should be violet</li>
</ul>
<script src="js/app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

240,995 PointsThe element with the ID of "rainbow" is the unordered list (ul). The list items (li) are the children of that list element:
var listItems = document.getElementById('rainbow').children;
// and another way to select the same collection of list items:
var listItems = document.querySelectorAll('#rainbow li');
