help with arguments

I am stuck with this challenge. Can anyone give me a hint please.

this is what I started but I can't finish it.

function max ( value1, value2 ) { var maxNumber = 5, 8; if() return max; }

script.js

  var maxNumber = 5, 8;
  if()
 return max;

function max ( value1, value2 ) {
  var maxNumber = 5, 8;
  if()
 return max;
}

Here you need to create a function that takes numbers in, finds which is largest and return it.

function max(num1, num2) {
    if (num1 > num2) {
       return num1;
      } else {
       return num2;

}

max(14, 10);  //this calls the function.
