I am looking to purchase an App from a company in India and would like somebody with some knowledge of PHP and App development to have a quick look at the website and tell me if this could be viable for me. They offer 1 years support of the App and claim to offer the source code which can be amended by other developers. They also offer to get the apps approved in Apptunes and Google store
My concerns are the following: Is the app likely to stop working without their support and what would happen when there are IOs and Android updates etc
Finally , I guess what I am asking can i buy this and take it to another developer and can another developer understand the code and keep it functioning or is this another scam.

If you do this, you will need to hire, at least on a contract basis, a professional iOS developer, a professional Android developer, and professional web developer.
I would recommend hiring at least one of these to review the app and get their feedback on whether or not this is viable. I have to say, though... there is no way to really evaluate how viable this is without access to the source code. I assume they will not allow that.
Finally, at the very least, I would ask them for a list of taxi companies that have purchased this package, and check out their app listings in the Apple and Google app stores. Read the reviews. If they can't or won't provide this, I would run in the other direction.

Courses Plus Student 2,015 PointsI guess this leads me to another question: where can I hire or find professional developers on a contract basis. Is there a market place or does Treehouse provide access to developers who might be interested.
Further, what is the market rate for professional developers per hour/day ?
Any help is greatly appreciated, I am a Economics student with little knowledge of the IT side of things and the biggest issue I have is trust especially when working across borders as you have zero chance of getting your money back.
