'Home page' not showing article content in Drupal.

Hi,

I am on the 'article' section of the Drupal track. I have created the 'grand opening' article and checked all the correct boxes (promoted to front page) and erased the default front page information. Now all I get for a front page is that it just says site_admin (which is the username for site). No other information at all. I can edit the page but it is just account info (passwords and emails and such). Perhaps there might not technically be a 'front page' to be promoted to?

In any case, I'm pretty sure I've done everything the same (though my Drupal version is 8 and not 7).

Any help or advice?

Thanks.

One thing I notice is on the 'Promotion Options' tab there is not an option to 'publish' as there is in the video. Why is that and could that be the culprit?

Adam, I would recommend you go back and install the latest version of Drupal 7 (v7.41, released Oct 21, 2015) and see if that makes the difference. Drupal 8 only came out of beta literally 3 weeks ago and is massively different from Drupal 7 in a TON of ways. Granted, the basic admin functions/options are similar, but since this is a course on Drupal 7, and since Drupal 6, 7, and 8 are all majorly different from each other, you'd be better off using the same edition as the one the instructor is using. Drupal 7 will still be supported (and for many preferred) for a long time. You can extend your skills over to D8 whenever you get the feel for Drupal in general.
