HTML Introduction to HTML and CSS (2016) Getting Familiar with HTML and CSS Test: Changing the Look of a Web Page

How do I change the color H1 to purple?

I took some suggestions and edited to what I thought would then be correct

index.html
<!doctype html>
<html>
  <head>
    <link href="styles.css" rel="stylesheet">
  </head>
  <body>

    <h1>class= "location"> Welcome to My Web Page!</h1>

  </body>
</html>
styles.css
.location
{color: purple;}

Close, but you need to target the h1 tag in your CSS selector (no need to add a class).

Using the class as target would work (but maybe not pass the challenge) if you remove the stray > between the tag name and the class.

okay I'll try that. Thanks

I still didn't pass the challenge.

I went thru the challenge and it passed perfectly, make sure you are not putting a period in front of the h1 and putting a semicolon after the word purple and closing the brackets.

make sure you do not put a period in front of h1

does this mean I don't need to add the .location first and then in the following line add h1 {color: purple;}?
