How do i make the android emulator appear in the studio when you have a more modern phone?

I am trying to figure out how I can make my android studio put up the emulator when I type in the lines of text. I am doing this same thing on my happy birthday text view and typed inthe lines of code. but I keep getting errors. is there a way to show you whtat I am doing to better help make the emulator show? I am following the video. and this is my first time running android studio. the main problem is that even though i have updated the drivers for my phone to be readable on the computer it is still not showing the emulator after making the lines of code? What is a solution to this?
