How do you make it so line 1 will only contain last names A-M in order and the other letters in line 2?

How do you make it so line 1 will only contain last names A-M in order and the other letters in line 2? I'm stuck on this challenge.

ConferenceRegistrationAssistant.java
public class ConferenceRegistrationAssistant {

  public int getLineFor(String lastName) {
    /* If the last name is between A thru M send them to line 1
       Otherwise send them to line 2 */
    int line = 0;
    return line;
  }

}

First you need to get the first character from lastName, which can be done in the following way:

lastName.charAt(0)

You then need to compare this first character to see if it is before or equal to 'M', and this can be done using <=:

lastName.charAt(0) <= 'M'

if this statement is true, we set line = 1, otherwise we set line = 2. This can all be seen in the below code:

public int getLineFor(String lastName) {
    /* If the last name is between A thru M send them to line 1
       Otherwise send them to line 2 */
    int line = 0;
    if(lastName.charAt(0) <= 'M') {
        line = 1;
    } else {
        line = 2;
    }
    return line;
}
