How do you reference a span section within another section (intro)?

I completing a challenge in CSS Basics module about structuring font weight within the CSS. I have not come across referencing a <span> section within the <intro>

Simple, you write a .intro and then a span, like this: 

.intro span {
  font-weight: bold;
  font-style: italic;
}

It requires you to use a Descendant Selector, which is something that was thought in the basic selectors part of the course.

A descendant selector is pretty simply, you just type multiple selectors separated by a space. So if you wanted to select span elements that are descendants of elements with the intro class, you would just type the intro class selector and then the span element selector separated with a space. Like so:

.intro span {
}
