How does get owner() have access to this._owner in the set owner() method?

Shouldn't this._owner be local in scope to set owner()? The code in question is

get owner() { return this._owner; }

set owner (owner) { this._owner = owner; console.log(setter called ${owner}); }

The "this." prefix establishes the scope as the entire instance.
